Settings up your portable tracking unit

To enable your unit with AutoAlert, do the following:

  1. Insert a registered Sim card (with credit) and charged battery into the unit.
  2. Send an email to AutoAlert with the following details
    • Telephone number of the SIM
    • The Mobile Operator for the SIM
    • A description for your unit on the system
  3. Place the unit in an area with good mobile and GPS reception (preferably outside and with a clear view of the sky).

    Result: The green led on the side of the unit will start flashing rapidly when the battery has been inserted. Once it has found a mobile network, it will flash approximately every 4 seconds.

  4. Note: AutoAlert preconfigures the units with the UK Vodafone or UK Orange network or a different network if advised prior to delivery.. Click here for details on how to manually configure your unit with another network.

  5. Log into the AutoAlert Control Centre with your email address and password.
  6. Request a location, or configure tracking by clicking on the button update location button next to your device on the right of the screen

Result: A text message will be sent to the unit requesting it sends its location. Once the unit has responded back its location will be shown in the main map screen.
