AutoAlert Can Dig You Out of a Hole!

A vehicle tracking system may be the answer to avoiding the increasing number of pot-holes and trenches in the UK road network.

According to a report by the Asphalt Industry Alliance, there are over three million holes and up to 30 Channel Tunnels' worth of trenches in our road network. This averages over 16,500 trenches on roads in every English local authority.

This does not even include the one million potholes which cost over £65 million in compensation for vehicle damage or damage caused by accidents in 2006/07.

The report also adds that there is an 11-year backlog and a £1 billion shortfall in road maintenance budgets.

"AutoAlert is a system which can alert drivers or fleet managers to areas of high road damage and then take action to avoid those routes," said AutoAlert's Richard Harris.

"This can save both time and money, and in a transport system where time IS money, having such a device could prove invaluable."

There are many benefits of such devices; AutoAlert for example can warn against congestion charging zones, low-emission zones, and other such areas which require potential avoidance.

What's more, these systems do not necessarily need to put a hole in your pocket.
