Mondeo Man park ‘n’ drive through…the wall

A driver in Coggleshall, near Colchester in Essex sounds as if he needs a little help with his directions when trying to park his Ford Mondeo. Actually, after ploughing through a wall into a woman’s living room, he needs all the technology he can get to help him. So perhaps a SatNav and a GPS tracking device might come in handy next time he is looking for that perfect, handy little spot to make a neat manoeuvre and park his saloon.

The driver wreaked devastation on the owner of the house, a lady of 55 who had a narrow escape. She had just stepped into her kitchen when the car ploughed through wheelie bins, crashed through a fence and through the wall of her living room, inches from where she had just been sitting.

Rubble, bricks, dust and plaster were sent flying through the living room air after the silver Mondeo, driven by a man in his 70s veered off the road into the unfortunate lady’s home.

What a scene. Fortunately the driver was unhurt although shocked and the lady concerned was also unhurt but naturally in a state of shock. Who wouldn’t be, watching the latest on Strictly Come Dancing, when there’s a strictly unwelcome thud through the wall. The next thing you know, a car enters your living room to share your viewing. Fancy a spot of Quick Step ma’am – or side step and reverse?

It’s enough to put the brakes on things. I mean it even stopped the clock as it got knocked to the floor, recording the exact timing of the incident better than any real time tracking device could.

Hopefully, this isn’t the new way to go about parking or a new take on real time tracking, Drive on, sir, the garden would make a lovely spot to come to a comfortable halt. Oh, and why not take the telly with you?
